Mark Brandt is a life-long entrepreneur with a passion for enterprise creation. In forming the Maple Fund, Mr. Brandt has utilized his strong work ethic and extensive network of contacts. Mr. Brandt continues to expand this network by traveling the country extensively to meet with many of the top scientists in their labs. On these visits, he is learning first-hand about the innovations with the potential to become enterprises. In doing so Mr. Brandt gets a clear and unbiased look at what can impact end-users. To connect these innovations with end-users he has developed contacts at most of the major buyers of materials and devices and has used their expertise to validate technology for potential deals. Prior to forming The Maple Fund, Mr. Brandt was Co-Founder and Vice President of Corporate Development of San Mateo, California-based Notiva Corp. Notiva is a progressive software company that addresses buyer/supplier collaboration in matching, reconciling and agreeing on payment information. Prior to Notiva, Mr. Brandt worked in Arthur Andersen Business Consulting's retail practice in Chicago and Cleveland. In 2002, Mr. Brandt founded SayYES! to Cleveland, an innovative networking program that connects former residents of the region to current business opportunity. SayYES! uses the emotional equity former residents have in Cleveland to support local start-ups and encourage successful non-residents to consider starting their next enterprise or expansion in Cleveland. Mr. Brandt is on the faculty planning committee for the Cleveland Clinic's Nanomedicine Summit, the Board of Purdue Universities $150 million Discovery Park and the review committee for the National Science Foundation, SBIR Phase II $500,000 Nanotechnology Grants.
