Stuart Youngner is a nationally and internationally recognized bioethicist in the areas of definitions of death, clinical ethics consultation,  organ and tissue transplantation and procurement, end-of-life decision making, competency to give informed consent, conflict of interest, and professionalism.  He has been one of the leaders in the filed in combining conceptual and empirical research.  He has served as a consultant to the Institute of Medicine and the Office of Technology Assessment and serves on the editorial boards of several journals.
